ADA & Deaf PatientsFrom: Joanne Bulley, MD (jbulley@cheshire.net)Fri Jun 16 17:33:33 2000
I had the Annual Gyn visit and Preconception review of medical problems with my deaf patient and her interpreter. It really did go better because of the interpreter - there was too much to cover by lip reading and writing on paper. As there were 2 definite components it was documented & billed as such - Ann Gyn for the first 30 minutes and 30 min (level 4) E&M for her degenerative arthritis, prior large cone, fertility issues with irregular menses etc. We shall see how it is paid.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
