Re: OB: Complete Previa, AnteriorFrom: ainsron@msn.comFri Jun 2 17:24:47 2000
Your right, and I do prepare these patients by discussing and signing consent for possible C/hysterectomy, blood available, having another Ob serve as my assistant rather than a midwife or GP, etc. Sonograms have not always been reliable from my past experience. I've heard of MRI being useful but never have ordered one. How do you decide which patients to order MRI on? anyone with placenta previa? previous C/S with previa? others? Even though we all know that there is no evidence of problems with MRI in pregnancy, I've had radiologists give me grief about ordering MRIs for suspected disc herniations. > >You should suspect and prepare for accreta well prior to surgery. >Ultrasound and MRI may help, but you really need to prepare these >patients for potential cesarean hysterectomy with a solid strategy that >includes potential placenta percreta. > >-- >M.A. Pelosi,III, MD >

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
