OB: Complete Previa, AnteriorFrom: Garry E. Siegel (garrys@mindspring.ocm)Wed May 31 21:15:05 2000
When approaching a patient at C/S for a complete previa, with an anterior component, what do the listers do differently, if anything? In this case, it is a primigravida undergoing a scheduled section at 37.5 weeks. Issues: 1. When do you section the known previa who is not bleeding, but has bled before requiring hospitalization? 37, 38, 39 weeks? Amnio if less than ____? weeks? 2. Do you make a transverse skin incision, if that is your norm? Larger? 3. If you think the placenta is underneath where your normal low transverse incision is going to go, do you go vertically? If they are multips versus primips, or having a tubal ligation, does that matter? Food for thought. Garry

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
