disagree.. septic baby will be picked up in the nursery due to tachypnea, poor feeding, poor temperature regulation, elevated wbc ct..

the cord gas was not needed..

and your management was changed in what way??

so, as a patient why should I pay for it?

Let me put it another way.. Apgar scores are done to alert the pediatrician that the baby needs resuscitation, blood pressure is measured because high or low blood pressure can indicate the need to act, and the same for respiratory rate. These are objective data, as well.. As a patient, I am willing to pay for this because the result of the test effects the management of my condition. This is not the case with cord gasses.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
