Re: Twin AmnioFrom: ATB28@aol.comSat May 20 10:42:30 2000
Depends on the experience of the operating surgeon, like so many other things we do. There was a nice article by Lauren Lynch, MD (when she was at Mt Sinai in NYC) on twin vs singleton amnios in Contemporary Ob/Gyn about 2 years ago. Her conclusion was that there was no increased risk in twins vs singleton when performed by experienced prenatal diagnosticians who had high-volume practices. Allan T. Bombard, MD Oakland, CA In a message dated Sat, 20 May 2000 11:02:26 AM Eastern Daylight Time, EKJMDRN@aol.com writes: << Question regarding genetic amniocentesis in twin pregnancies. Is there a decreased risk of amniocentesis related miscarriage in twin pregnancies when amnio is performed earlier than 15-16 weeks? I know of a colleague who recommends amnio at 13 weeks. Thanks in advance.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
