Re: Discontinuation of contraception--Depo ProveraFrom: Garry Siegel (garrys@mindspring.com)Tue May 2 20:37:15 2000
Another case, which I posted yesterday but got lost in cyberspace: 50 YO on Depo for about two years, amenorrheic and happy, put on Depo due to small fibroids and a biopsy showing a polypoid endometrium. Originally, hysteroscopic/laparoscopic assessment planned, but not done b/o insurance issues (I wasn't on her plan, and she didn't want to go elsewhere). Anyway, her menometrorrhagia, for which the treatment was given, is under control. However, she eventually will need to be offered HRT as she likely is perimenopausal. Given the slow time for Depo to get out of her system, short of stopping Depo and waiting to see what happens, any thoughts about doing a random FSH or somesuch? Garry

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
