Teresa, I'm SO sorry you ended up on the wrong forum. This happens once in a while. This list is for certified nurse midwives and OB/GYN doctors. Some of them, as you have seen, are extremely judgmental. And, yes, many of them have led pretty privileged lives, and are pretty clueless about people different from them.

As a CNM, I have taken care of many women who have been in battering situations such as yours, and I feel I understand what happens. We nurses tend to be much more educated in other than medical matters. We are much more "holistic" and look at the entire person and their social situation when involved in their care. I totally understand why you have a tubal when you did. I applaud you for having the guts to leave your first husband. It must have been very difficult. I'm SO glad that things have worked out for you now.

A tubal reversal is VERY expensive and doesn't always work - I've heard only 50 - 80 % work. May people with tubals resort to IVF (in vitro) which is also very expensive. I SO understand your wanting to have a child with your present husband. Good luck.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
