Re: 20 wk IUP, megacystis, anhydramnios, gender unknownFrom: dr. peterman (peterman@proteus.com)Wed Apr 12 17:09:57 2000
The patient I previously described subsequently underwent fetal vesciocentesis, and the results revealed fetal renal failure. Genetic amniocentesis showed a complete tetrasomy 18p. Has anyone else had any experience with this genetic syndrome? I understand it is not always incompatible with life, and that megacystis, urinary outflow obstruction and resulting anhydramnios (which this fetus had) are not part of the phenotype. I am inducing the patient as we speak (EGA" weeks). p.peterman

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
