Re: Cytotec, cervical ripeningFrom: Betsy Hyde (elishyde@connix.com)Fri Apr 7 17:53:16 2000
>When you say "only in-house cytotec," do you mean that all patients who >receive cytotec are admitted and do not go home without being delivered? yes, that is the policy around here. of course, if the cytotec fails, the contractions stop and the fetus seems stable, then she may go home and return later on for another shot at induction.
>We only administer cytotec in-house, but if they don't show a response there is a rare patient who does not respond to cytotec. IMO, most of the time they go into labor and deliver w/i 12 hours....sometimes much sooner than that. Believe me, we have had *any number* of very, very unhappy campers after 25 mcg of cytotec.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
