Cytotec, cervical ripening

Our Ob charge nurse was on a conference call today with 12 other ob departments in our hospital's healthcare system. Our department was the only the only one performing outpatient cervical ripening with cytotec because they feel it is too dangerous to use and then send a patient home in 2-4 hours. It makes us stand out like a sore thumb to our risk manager. Has anyone else out there in cyberland stopped doing cervical ripening with cytotec? If so, what are you now using for non-emergent inductions on unripe cervices? Dr. Bornstein's protocol in another part of the OBGYN.net still lists out patient ripening as part of his protocol.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
