I had a similar patient this week. She presented with the complaint that her husband was hitting something that hurt him when they had intercourse, over the past two weeks time. On exam, ~6cm of a prolene suture that had been used for a urethral suspension by a local urologist was found on the right paraurethral area. I opted to pull gently until the maximal amount of suture was in the vagina, then cut it. Nothing was visible when I was done. Interestingly, she had excellent relief of her SUI symptoms from the suspension, and that did not change with loss of the suture.
