Survey:

1. If a new device were available that would differentiate between Braxton-Hicks and true PTL contractions, would you use it?

Yes, but only if its benefits justify its cost, if its benefits are not very clear in literature i only get it with investigational funds (I work in a public hospital , so no patient charge)

2. If you would use it, would it change your management of PTL? If no, please indicate reason(s)

It depends on the literature, CRT is needed.

3. If the device indicated Braxton-Hicks contractions, would you withhold tocolytics? If no, please indicate reason(s)

With cervical change i would.

4. Are you satisfied with the presently available tocolytics?

they have limitations

5. Have you ever withheld tocolytics due to potential side effects?

It depends on gestational weeks.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
