I think most Obs would agree that our office practice expenses cannot met by the income derived our office alone, without the procedures: deliveries, surgeries, etc. we would all be bankrupt. If the CNP frees up your time to allow your to perform more surgery, plus the surgical referrals she makes to you, her salary is probably a justifiable expense. I think the important thing to do is look at her patient mix and be sure that the patients she sees are ones that you are reimbursed adequately for, i.e. limit medicare and welfare patients and be sure that she is coding properly for the care she gives. 20 patients per day seems like a small number, is she really being scheduled effeciently? I don't know what others see, but my average day is 30+.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
