Cash only services?

To the List:

There is an article in today's newspaper about doctors who are sick of HMOs and other health care plans which cause them to lower prices and affect how they treat patients. Apparently there are physicians (and the article seemed to indicate the person they were reporting on was a generalist or internist or something) who work on a CASH basis, but then give the patients lots of time and fussing over. Seems to make them very successful.

Does anyone on the list have any experience with this kind of CASH ONLY type of practice these days, either personally or indirectly? I'd be interested to know if this was practiced in ob-gyn any now.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
