After discussing the results (and her usual visit/PE) with her I would definately bring up this situation with her. If the patient has so little trust in her caregivers and would be so deceptive in this matter, I'd be concerned about caring for her during the rest of the pregnancy. You know who would be held responsible for any problems or complications. For those who think I might be too harsh and unsympathetic to her anxiety, I myself have twice waited anxiously for amnio results. The worst situation would be to get abnormal or ambiguous results without the benefit of counseling re them. Lenora McCall, CNM

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
