How do members of the list handle the counseling session after
amniocentesis?
My lab sometimes takes 10 days, sometimes 21 to get the results back making
a "set" interval between the amnio and the counseling session almost
impossible to schedule.
My policy, and I am very open to suggestions and criticism, is to call the
patient and schedule a visit "ASAP" to discuss the results. I give no
information over the phone at all, rather insist on a face to face meeting.
some people have suggested that my method is "too harsh" and induces too
much stress.
