Lenora you could always get rapid karyotype via umbilical blood sampling if you have access to such a service. the consult is an excellent idea, of course. additionally, would also suggest dopplers - if there is a normal umbilical artery A/B ( or S/D) ratio, then early delivery would most likely be of negligible benefit. the advantage of knowing karyotype would be, hypothetically, to avoid procedures of negligible benefit for a mom carrying a fetus with a potentially lethal trisomy,eg serial biophysical profiles with Trisomy 13. good luck to you, mom and baby. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
