Depo-estradiol contains 5 mg of estradiol cypionate, 5mg/cc. The usual dose is 1 to 5 mg every 3-4 weeks. I have a number of patients on it, they are usually ones who have failed to do well on po or patches and usually feel remarkably better on injections. On postop patients, after BSO, I often give an injection of depo-estradiol, 5 mg, in the recovery room then transition them to po or patches in 2-3 weeks.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
