DepoproveraFrom: Jose H. Cortes MD, F.A.C.O.G. (jcortes@digitalexp.com)Mon Feb 28 19:46:51 2000
Is there any experience in using the Depoprovera injectable solution of 400mg/ml for contraception? That is drawing 0.4cc which would equal 160mg of this vial and injecting IM as recommended every 12-13 weeks for contraception. The active ingredient is the same as the 150mg/ml. The company states there may be a higher failure rate; but it seems reasonable to use this preparation to make it more affordable to the patients. Thank you.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
