Re: bordeline malignancyFrom: Joanne Bulley, MD (jbulley@cheshire.net)Sat Feb 19 16:09:34 2000
I recently had one of these - a general surgeon and I took care of her. The articles reviewing this indicate that the APPENDIX is where the tumor arises - and goes to the ovary. I can get the papers to share here - they ar at the office and I am at home. But they were good review papers. The upshot would be - re-explore sooner than six months - to do the appendectomy and debulking and then pray. If maximal removal of myxomatous implants, then she may do quite well ore may have repeat obstructive bowel problemsand laparotomies due to pseudomyxomata peritonei. Chemotherapy is not warranted according to these authors.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
