29 y/o o/f with abnormal triscreen placed her at risk for trisomy 21. Amniocentesis confirmed that she was carrying a fetus with Down's syndrome. At 23 weeks of gestation (by dates and early ultrasound) she decided to have a termination of pregnancy. She was admitted to the hospital and received intravaginal misoprostol. After 11 hours she delivered a liveborn male weighing 640 gm. The neonate was placed in a warmer and no resuscitative efforts were made. After approximately 1 hour it expired. Comments please. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
