Re: C/S Under Local AnesthesiaFrom: Douglas J. Krell MD (djkrell@ix.netcom.com)Mon Feb 7 09:59:51 2000
Yes I take 2 mg of Valium IV before I start the case. No. Seriously, I think it should be given to the mother as soon as the baby is out. Whatever you like. I can't remember what I used but I think it was a combination of narcotic and benzodiazepine. You'll get some retrograde amnesia of course. My experience has been that everyone, including the mother is so intent on getting that baby out, that endogenous endorphins leave everyone with a sense that all went as well as possible. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
