It has been a pretty interesting experience reading through the mails discussing ways to do a CS under local anaesthesia. The fact the responses were from the USA in the year 2000 makes it even more interesting. I was expecting `never done one` sort of responses. As the anaesthetic services (or the lack of it) were the main reasons, do you think the VBAC guideline of the ACOG may have some justification after all? One may be able to take a baby out under a local anaesthetic, but imagine having to control massive bleeding from a ruptured uterus when you just cannot wait for the anaesthetist (or to do a hysterectomy perhaps).

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
