I concur with Douglas. Dan -----Original Message----- From: Douglas J. Krell MD To: Multiple recipients of list OB-GYN-L Sent: 2/6/00 1:18 PM Subject: Re: C/S Under Local Anesthesia I've done 2 of these at PHS hospitals when no anesthesia was available. Gil Web is wasting time, in my opinion. Just inject 1% xylocaine subQ in a straight shot umbilicus to pubis. Do the same to the fascia. Simply squirt xylocaine over the surface of the lower uterine segment and any other peritoneal surface you see. You get instant peritoneal anesthesia to make a small bladder flap, incise the uterus and deliver the baby. Start pitocin as the baby is being delivered and the placenta will be squeezed out by the contracting uterus with minimal blood loss as you are waiting for anesthesiology to arrive. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
