I recently had a baby w/ continuous fetal monitoring during long induction for postdates and PROM. Entire strip showed great reactivity, with only occasional very mild variable decels. Never any lates, never any loss of reactivity. As I stood pushing with this woman I thought "wow, this baby is looking *great* despite the postdates, prolonged ROM and long second stage."

Fetus seized w/i first 24 hours after birth, subarachnoid hemorrhage, IVH, MRI shows infarct. PTT 70s. Workup in progress for thrombophilia although the labs back so far are wnl (except PTT). Accelerations and reactivity didn't mean squat in this case.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
