In my view giving prophylaxis to a mother known to be a carrier of GBS in a previous pregnancy (in urine for example) and tested only once at 35 in the current pregnancy (used different lab, the test maybe was not properly taken, etc) and the result comes out "negative" is not unnecessarily -- and I admit that it is not the *current* recommendation of the CDC. I appreciate your comments--you know I do-- let's see in 2-3 years what the recommendations will be--maybe I'll get a grin or you a wider one :-)

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
