Re: A single health care payer for the US ? ( Long)From: John Robertson MD (john.robertson@obgyn.net)Sun Jan 23 08:55:14 2000
Point taken Kathi. I was looking at the beaurocratic (sp?) load that is placed on a system. My favorite example is car insurance here in B.C. which costs double what it is next door in Alberta where it is privatized. As a Canadian living with socialized medicine all my life I do recognize the advantages of a government run system (see my comments in the earlier post re why I have stayed in Canada) but I also see the disadvantages. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
