I have just recently been accepted to LVN school and I am very interested in learning as early as possible what the best route would be to becoming an RN in Labor and Delivery. I will do this first year of LVN school and then continue with my RN in a separate program. After achieving my RN, what will be my next step to becoming specialized in L&D? Also, how many years will it take, after my RN, to acquire my nursing practitioners' license in Labor and Delivery? Is this a growing field? Will it be a lucritive career move? I'd really appreciate any info from those in the field, or any comments knowledged professional can throw out for me. Thanks!

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
