I am a cpn and have worked with many women who are menopausal or perimenopausal. I am currently seeing a client who is suffering from a treatment resistant depression {for two years}. She was prescribed HRT in the past{prematin} at a Well Woman clinic, where she was diagnosed as menopausal rather than depressed. Her mood levels improved but she sufferred from breast abcesses which required surgery. Her GP ceased the HRT and the Well Woman clinis closed down! She had a hysterectomy almost 6yrs ago and is 45yrs old. I have attempted to speak with her GP about reinstating some HRT but he is unwilling due to her history of breast abcesses. As i am not an expert on medical health issues and menopause/HRT services in our area are poor, i need some advice! This woman is not in isolation and i seem to be the only practitioner currently focussing on this issue in our team{ which covers a large geographical area in Cornwall.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
