I live and work in Kansas in a small rural hospital, @ 700-750 births a year. We are undergoing the same thing. At present we have LDR's and will be hopefully going to LDRP's within a year or so. There is still a lot of resistance to the plan. As a L&D nurse I love it. I feel that family based care is crucial. There may be resistance at the beginning, as we have undergone, but in the long run it will benefit the patients and that is who we are here for. Sheila Colangelo, RN
