Hello, to all. I am the new Clinical Nurse Supervisor at a very small Community hospital in Michigan. We have a small unit with 3 LDRP rooms, & 3 evaluation- short stay rooms. Our unit is staffed with one RN Resource Nurse and one Tech or LPN Nursery Nurse, in 12 hour shifts. We work solely with Family Practice Physicians, and Midwives. We are trying to develop a Competency Evaluation Tool that can be used to competency staff in L&D skills and postpartum skills. These skills would be observed, evaluated and signed off, by our physicians and midwives to enable staff to complete skills/make decisions in some areas that would enable the physician or midwife to not be physically present and enable nursing staff (RN) to complete the assessment or skill independently. Does anyone use these tools in their department now and if so can you share that info, if not does anyone know where to point me in the right direction.

thank you jane ward RN

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
