In the facility I work we advise women who have had a vaginal delivery to shower until the discharge has stopped. I am not sure of the source for this information, I will research and let you know. We also instruct them to take a sitz bath after their shower, assuring that the tub is cleaned, 6-8 inches of warm water only, and to sit for @ 20 minutes 2 - 3 times daily.
