I have recently seen women in the OR with reddened cervix and, according to the OBGYN,normal PAP smears. These women are getting ablations for chronic discharge related to mucous cells of the cervix growing on the surface of the cervix instead of the underlayer. I've been an OR nurse for ten years and have never heard of this. I was trying to find more information on this subject. Can anyone help.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
