Rachael, Completion of any pregnancy beyond the stage of abortion bestows parity on the mother; it is the number of pregnancies reaching viability, not the number of fetuses delivered that determines parity. Parity is no greater with twins, triplets, quads, etc., nor is it less if a fetus is delivered stillborn (as long as the stillborn's gestation was beyond the stage of abortion)If you want further clarification, check Williams Obstetrics, 20th Edition, pp 229
Hope this helps, Pat Kjoller, RNC Colorado

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
