I am an american citizen with a midwifery degree from germany, currently on staff in a delivery room at a University hospital in Germany. Have been trying to find out about becoming a CNM in the USA through normal channels (acnm, university programs, etc.), but am wondering (hoping) if it is possible to shorten length of entire CNM program (5+ years). Are there any Foreign Educated Midwifes in the States that have managed to do so out there and willing to share there experiences with me?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
