Had a TAH BSO w/bladder sling procedure done 3/20/01. Have had to catheterize myself since then. Residuals run anywhere from 2 oz. to 8 oz. Had urodynamic studies done which show good bladder support - in fact, maybe too good. Urethra isn't opening up like it should. My uro. says he may need to go back in and cut the fascia and let it back down. Everything else looks healthy. At this point I'm not real anxious to risk further problems. Anybody know of any long-term bad effects of just continuing indefinitely to catheterize completely every four hours? Not looking for anyone to tell me what to do, just asking if anyone has any knowledge of similar situations.
