IV Hydration during labor

I am trying to research the benifits of IV hydration during the labor/delivery. Specifically the benifits/disadvantages of using Dextrose 5% Lactated Ringers and Lactated Ringers during labor, together or exculsively. Does the use of D5LR decrease the incidence of labor dystocia and cesarean sections? I understand that there is a study on this. What are other nurses using in L&D? What are your protocols? What do physicians recommend. Currently we do not have a specific protocol at my hospital and are trying to implement one. Any help would be appreciated. I will be searching the internet for studies/articles, but am interested in other nurses perspectives on this.
