ShinglesFrom: Judy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 30 Nov 1999 20:48:11 -0600 (CST)
I am 51 years old and in excellent health, but I am currently suffering with shingles. I have been to the Dr. and put on Famvir 500 mg. and Darvoset for the pain. I am broke out all the way from my back to the front in my entire mid-section on the left side with awful blisters. Everyone seems to be free to give me information about this awful illness, but I would like to get some accurate and straight answers to the following: 1. Is it possible that stress set this off? 2. Will I have scars from the lesions? 3. Can this come back again in the future? 4. Is there a vaccine to prevent it from happening again? My doctor told me that it the Famvir is more effective if taken at the onset of the outbreak, but unfortunately, I didn't go to the Dr. until about a week later. By then I was really broke out and in severe pain. We were out of town when I got sick and didn't want to go to an emergency room. Thank you in advance for any information to set my mind at ease.
