This is a terrific forum!!! I love it here (Don't I Dr. M? ;o) ).

All questions are important here....what is important to you is what is important to others here....my favorite saying lately is, "Everything is relative!" What might seem like a major catastrophy, might seem like nothing to the next, but what is important is how I feel (in this case, how you feel)...okay, now, did that make any sense? ;o)

Kerri....I think all of us can relate this what you are feeling. I remember my fist GYN exam. I cried the entire time, because I didn't know what to expect. The Dr. was very kind in explaining things to me, but still, I went in not knowing much.

First of all, if you are more comfortable, just go in for a consult and meet the Dr. That way, you will get a feel for him, and know what he is like (i.e. caring, concerned, compassionate, etc.). Also, remember that when you are in the exam room, there is always a nurse present, for the Drs. protection and for yours. If it helps, as her to hold your hand. As the Dr. to explain all that he is doing BEFORE he does anything, so you won't be surprised. It definitely is not my most favorite thing to do, but if you have a good Dr., it makes the entire procedure so much easier to deal with. Another thing, ask the Dr. to show you the instruments that he will be using. Gives you a better idea of what he is doing as well.

These are just a few pointers. I hope they have helped. I'm sure that others will be posting as well. In the meantime, check the archives, as I know this subject has come up before.

Good luck Kerri....let us know how things go for you.
