Re: To GINA - ref. chronic vaginitis/burningFrom: Gina (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 29 Nov 1999 16:03:18 -0600 (CST)
Hi Pat, Well it's almost funny, I went to a guy dermatologist and when I described my problem he told me to undress so he could look and I felt very uncomfortable because I could tell this had NEVER happened to him before! It was the briefest exam "down there" I had ever had and he just told me use a prescription antihistimine cream in that area, LOL It didn't work, and since this guy seemed so uncomfortable treating this (making me feel uncomfortable as a result) I chose a female dermatologist instead. She was very familiar with vaginal area irritations and allergies, knew exactly what to do and try and within a week the rash was gone and the itching almost gone, within 2 weeks all was gone! I had been suffering with this for years, been tested or treated for everything from "jock itch" to parasites. It was eventually discovered through a process of elimination what I was allergic to (chemical used in toilet paper), and the meds were mainly to treat the resulting rash and irritation. One of the meds was zirtec, I think it was called. Gina
