HysterectomyFrom: Alma (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 26 Nov 1999 09:59:57 -0600 (CST)
I had my tubes tied november 22, 1994 after the peoceedure I felt alot of pain so I took the medicines that they precribed for me which were motrin 800mg. I keep my appontments every year till in 98 I could not walk with this pain that I was having I went to my doctor and she did a pelvic exam and told me I had Clamidaya but I asked her how could that be when my husband went to the doctor and they said that he was fine, but taking the doctors advice I took the medicine and returned in 14 days she did another pelvic exam and I was still in pain on my left side, she then ordered a ultrasound to be preformed. After the ultrasound they found nothing unusal so me and my doctor talked about options the only option she suggested was a hysterectomy. I talked to some of my friends and one told me about her Doctor I made an appointment and he did his own pelvic and said that he could do a exploratory surgery. On January 10 1998 he found that I had scared tissue from my tubal and removed the scared tissue. Now I still have that same pain again I went back to the doctor who did the scared tissue and he gave me four options 1)go in and do another exploratory, 2) take the left tube and ovary, 3) take the left tube ovary and the uterus, & 4) take both tubes, ovaries and uterus he told me he need to discuss the matter with his partners to see what they thought. He final told me that the exploratory would not work since it did not work the first time that I could do any of the other 3 options He told me that there would be a 2% chance that the other side would become like the left, I told him that I would like for him to remove both ovaries, tubes and the uterus. He said that would be fine. So in January 2000 I will have a Hysterectomy and I am Only 27 years old. Do you think that I made a good choice? I just don't want to go through this type of surgery again ever in my life. Do you think I need another opinion? Ib feel that he did a great job when he asked his partners about the situation. My husband said that I am to worried about the situation, and by me writting this letter I am beginning to belive that. Please give me some kind of suggestion to this matter. Also how would I expect to feel afterwards & what kind of side effects will the hormone patch give me until they find the right dose? I have alot of questions and would like to know of some go support groups online that I can talk to before and after my surgery. I will definantly need someone afterwards seemingly I'll be here with nothing to do.
