You know, I think if gynecologists were more open to working a bit closer with interventional radiologists, the old "bleeding out" business would go the way of the dinosaur... for women considering myomectomy who have heard about the possibility of excessive bleeding -- find out if your gyn knows about uterine artery embolization and embolotherapy and whether or not s/he knows a good IR that s/he has worked with in the past. Then, make sure the IR is on call the day of your myo... might save you that "emergency" hysterectomy your doc is so worried about...
