Hi Dr. Marchbein,

Thank you for writing. The information that I have read and what I have been told was that Prometrium was from yams. I looked up Prometrium on the net and found a news report from Reuter's Health. In the article it states that Prometrium was synthesized from yams. This was according to the manufacturer of the drug. I had read somewhere else that the peanut oil was used as a vehicle for transportation of the progesterone and that women allergic to peanuts must avoid it.

This is the info I was presented with and what I gleaned from my reading about Prometrium. If I am incorrect, please let me know.

I appreciate your input.

Take care,
