But If you haven't had a gyn exam in the last year, I recommend that you get one now, including preconception couseling and testing. Ovulation might account for your pain, but, as your note hints, it's unlikely that the actual release of the egg occurs only one week before your period. But, still, the pain might occur that late. The gyn exam might allay some of your concerns. Also, I highly recommend the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler for a good explanation of how to monitor your signs of ovulation, and how to increase your chances of getting pregnant. Hope it happens soon!
