Re: tubal ligationFrom: Cheryl (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Aug 1999 07:35:57 -0500 (CDT)
Amy- I understand your desire for permanent birth control, but you are VERY young. Make sure you question your dr completely about the risks of tubal ligation. I have learned the hard way that sometimes tubals cause nasty side-effects down the road. Not ALL women get these side-effects, BUT, I have met over 120 women in the past year that had tubals and now have some major troubles with their cycles. I am not saying that this will happen to you, but the chance IS there. Do some soul searching and see if it's worth it to you. If you would like to email me privately, you are welcome. I know there are not a lot of options out there for us women as far as permanent birth control is concerned, but I would rather see someone take the pill for a few more years if they can, or some other method, other than a tubal. I had mine done at 27, and by the time I was 30, my cycles were WAY out of control. Last year, at the age of 32, I was diagnosed as being peri-menopausal. Had I been given the proper information prior to getting my tubal I would NOT have consented to it. Good Luck! Cheryl :o) ************************************ At Sun, 29 Aug 1999, amy wrote:
