cysts, vaginalFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netTue, 24 Aug 1999 19:21:40 -0500 (CDT)
I have a very in-depth question/situation. For the past year I have had a recurring cyst located on my labia minor. It is usually in the same spot, on the same side. I have been to two doctors, both of which have no idea what is causing it. It is not a Bartholen's gland problem, but both think that there is a lubricating gland that, for some reason, is becoming blocked and infected every once in a while. So far, in the past twelve months I have had the cyst return about 4 times. About two times the labia minor that usually gets infected swelled up as if the cyst was back, but it was a false alarm. The last time it popped up it was on the same side, but furhter up on the labia minor. I have not changed laundry detergent, clothes, lotions, or anything like that. I would really like to get to the bottom of this. Both doctors have wanted to surgically remove the gland, but it would consist of waiting until the cyst returns full-blast. That is fine, but I would really like to know what is causing this, just to be sure it's nothing worse than a simple blockage. Thank you.
