It is possible and appropriate to do this with any combination oral contraceptive, though the 1/50 tablets are not used very much any more due to the risk of side effects. Originally, the Pill was packaged this way, but women did not like not having periods to reassure them that they were not pregnant, so a marketing choice was made to include the placebo week that is now the standard.
