AdenomyosisFrom: Niels (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 3 Aug 1999 17:49:18 -0400
I have a fibroid of 8cm, and extreme pain for at least two weeks of every month. Most doctors are telling me that fibroids do not cause pain, and are saying that I probably have adenomyosis (essentially endometriosis implanted in the uterus) along with the fibroid. If I have this, the uterus would need to be removed. They say that adenomyosis can only be detected after removing the uterus, however, on biopsy. My choice is to have the fibroid removed but to keep the uterus. I have a problem with doctors telling me that fibroids do not cause pain, so that they are looking for some other cause. Has anyone had their uterus removed due to adenomyosis? And, has anyone had a fiboid and adenomyosis in addition to this? I'm very interested to hear from anyone who went through something similar. Thank you. Susan
