Re: PCOS and lactationFrom: mary (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 30 Jul 1999 00:40:29 -0500
>If there is a > trend for difficulty with lactation in PCO women and no known treatment, > should I abandon my efforts and just bottle feed since I am > supplementing with this anyway? Congratulations on the birth of your daughter! How old is she? How long have you been supplementing? I also have PCOS and a 16 mos old daughter who was breastfed exclusively and now eats solid foods and nurses. I have not had any problems with milk supply with her. I think that is due to my not letting her have a bottle or pacifier at all. She has not had an artificial nipple in her mouth. Her (nearly!!) constant suckling stimulates milk production. Now when I breastfed my son, I gave him one bottle of formula a day because his doctor told me to. I took the advice and did not ckeck it out for myself. I did not have as good a supply for him as I have for my daughter. Have you read or tried any of the suggestions by Dr. William Sears (pediatrician) for increasing milk supply?
