I am 40 years old and had a total abdominal hysterectomy because of a large fibroid about seven months ago. The uterus and cervix were removed in my case. For me, orgasms have completely lost their intensity. When this came up earlier on this list, it was mentioned by other women who've had hysterectomies that maybe keeping the cervix would prevent this problem. Others that have had a supracervical hysterectomy, where the cervix is left in, have not noticed a difference in orgasms. Some have also said that the uterus gently contracts during orgasm so a myomectomy might be a good idea if you want to save the uterus. If you need or want to have the uterus taken out, and want to hopefully preserve full orgasmic function, I would recommend asking for a supracervical hysterectomy. I wish I had.
